
Bronx, New York. July 02, 2008. Martha Adhikari a well known social worker and primary health care specialist, died at 9.36 a.m. eastern time. She was 61 years of age. She was loved by many. She was consider one of the pioneer of family control, which was later known as family planning in South East Asian countries. She struggle along with Dr. Mina Malakar for family planing in formar East Pakistan, now known as Bangladesh. During this culutral revolution of modern family system in an Islamic country like Pakistan she and her collouges gone through many domestic oppression and some cases extended even life threatening in many times. She proclaimed the freedom of women's rights in the Islamic world and free of choice of women health, rights of marriage and denounce of polygamy in Islamic world. During 1960 in South East Asia Family Planing system was consider religiously as act of evil, and socially a criminal act. In many cases hundreds of thousands women were persecuted because they had accepted modern Family Planing. Dr. Mina Malakar and Martha Adhikari were stand firm for the rights of women's health and struggle for freedom in a society, where women used to be consider like commodity of male. They are the pioneer of modern healthy family system in the third world countries, who led the oppressed women system towards civil right movement and rejected one way male domination in the family.
